COVID-19 and US Postal Service International Service Disruptions

Starting on April 3, 2020, the United States Postal Service started suspending international mail deliveries to two classes of countries:

  • Suspension Due to Foreign Postal Operator Service Suspension
  • Suspension Due to Unavailability of Transportation

and they add:

Customers: please refrain from mailing items addressed to the countries listed here, until further notice.

This means that some of our overseas members and subscribers DID NOT receive the Spring 2020 (#48) issue of the Journal of The Masonic Society.  We recently received several copies back, from India, Peru, and Bermuda, that were mailed just before service was suspended.

While we apologize for the non-delivery, at this time there is nothing we can do about it.  We have to wait for the USPS to lift the mail suspension to your countries, and that frankly depends in large measure on your country agreeing to accept mail from the US again.

We are keeping track of the magazines that have been returned (they’re still wrapped in plastic and are in great shape) and will send them back out as soon as we can.

Unfortunately we also got back a few dues notices which were sent out around April 2.  I will be in touch with the members affected.

Again:  If you are in one of the countries impacted by the mail suspension, we regret that your Journal has been delayed, but as noted, we’ll send it along as soon as we can.  We appreciate your patience in this matter, which is completely out of our hands.

The current list of mail service suspensions (which is updated as the USPS has new information) can be found here.
